Office of Development Commissioner for Hill Areas (DCHA), Assam was created in 1966 to coordinate the developmental works in the Hill Areas of Assam under the Administrative control of Tribal Affairs Department as per Tarlok Singh Committee’s report. Now, this Office is under the Administrative Control of Hill Areas Department. DCHA acts as coordinator between both the Councils and Hill Areas Department as suggested by Tarlok Singh Committee report.

For monitoring purposes, the Officers and Staff of DCHA, Assam make field visit/ physical inspection of CSS/CS  as and when requested by the Hill Areas Department.
